A clinic's 'exotic pet' label on Google doesn't tell you whether it actually treats birds — many exotic vets focus on reptiles or small mammals and refer bird cases out, a gap that usually surfaces only once you're on the phone. Every avian vet listed here is confirmed to treat birds from the practice's own website or posted services, not just a generic exotic-animal tag.

Good to know
What is an avian vet called?
Avian vets are usually listed as "avian veterinarians" or "exotic animal veterinarians," and some hold additional board certification through the Association of Avian Veterinarians. Not every exotic vet treats birds, so it's worth confirming directly.
How often should I take my bird to the vet?
Most avian vets recommend at least an annual wellness exam, since birds mask signs of illness and problems can be well along by the time symptoms show. A new bird should also get a checkup soon after you bring it home.
Can capybaras be pets?
Owning a capybara depends on regional wildlife and exotic animal regulations, as many areas require specialized permits or ban them entirely. In North Carolina, there are 63 exotic animal veterinarians on ExoticVetAtlas who can guide you on health and legal care requirements.
Can you have a fennec fox as a pet?
Fennec foxes can be kept as pets in certain jurisdictions, but they often require specific captive wildlife permits and specialized enclosures. Check local wildlife regulations in North Carolina, where 63 listed exotic veterinarians are available to assist with their unique care needs.
